Language Learning online in the time of COVID-19
One in three Londoners were born outside the UK, and more than 300 languages are currently spoken on its streets! Yet nearly 100,000 Londoners cannot speak English well or even at all.
In these uncertain times, learning English together face-to-face has not always been possible and many community providers of language classes are exploring how they can move them online (if learners have internet access) or partner with other providers who have greater capacity to deliver online content. Here are links to some resources for learning English online.
They include some simple ideas:
- English Conversation practice can be done by telephone
- Activities, workbooks and exercises can be created and shared over WhatsApp or email.
- For those with basic literacy skills with access to a smartphone, learning can continue via regular video calls to carry out some language learning activities.
